Rebekah will probably grow up to be a fictional writer. As a first grader she comes up with some doozies when writing sentences. The idea here is for them to meet sentence structure and grammer requirements... not spelling.
The most recent sentence of interest was... And thus, you will suffer dire consequences. which she took from the Pirates Who Don't do Anything Veggie tale movie. Thank you, Melissa Kivel.

Thrifty is Nifty
Nathaniel's math problems today involved picking 2 items that he could buy from pictures with prices for a total of 6 cents and then 7 cents. In both problems he insisted on buying 3 items that added up to the total. Hmm... already a bargain shopper. He was disappointed when I told him he had to choose only 2.

I could have danced all night
Todd took Rebekah to the Father-Daughter dance at the school tonight. They had a great time! Todd danced whenever Rebekah wanted. He said on a slow dance he looked down at her and almost cried! Rebekah saw all her friends from school but pal'd up with Nadia most of the evening. They came home about 9:20 with a helium balloon and 2 chocolates (which they gave to me - yeh!)
Rebekah had complained that she didn't have "high-heels" like all her friends said they were going to wear. I told her she'd be more comfortable. Wise mom was right - all her friends wound up dancing in their stocking feet!
Cold, cold winter - this year!
We have had more days below 20 (many below 15) degrees than we've had in the 30's. Most days it's been around 18-20. We've used all our calamity days + 2. There have been alot of in-door recesses leaving most kids wound up. On the days it gets up to 20 it feels warm. Yesterday it was 35 and felt like spring. Rebekah and I went outside without coats for a few minutes. A big difference from the biting cold when it's 5 degrees.
In spite of the coldness, we had an electric bill that was average for us for this time of year. Thanks to the new windows, the curtains in the kitchen doorways and a thermostat set at 65-66. That keeps our kitchen family room at 68-69. Very comfie with a sweater! Most around us had electric bills about $100-150 higher than normal. I'm breaking my arm patting myself on the back, right now.
Can't wait to see the difference in our bedrooms when we get the upstairs windows replaced!

Work to eat...
Here's a story about how lazy Nathaniel is. Todd helped him with his homework last night. He had to write "18" in 6 rectangles stacked in columns of three. To save time(?) or energy (?) Nathaniel drew two lines straight down through the 2 columns and erased the lines the crossed out of one rectangle and into another. He did this instead of simply writing 6 ones!
