Totalled!!

After the first night of the annual Xenos Institute I heard sound of a car being hit just outside our bedroom. It was 3:00 AM. Outside the window I saw nothing. Todd must have moved his car onto the driveway where I can't see it, I thought. I asked Todd if he had left his car on the street. "Yes" was the answer.

Todd had parked in the street because our garage was full of fence pickets being painted leaving our driveway full with our white Avalon, his parents car, and the car of our XSI guests.

I quickly put on some sweats, grabbed the phone and went outside. The car was not on the street. Then I saw it T-bone in our neighbors driveway (above right) and their mailbox on the ground.

He had to be going very, very fast in our 25 mph zone to do this kind of damage and move the car 50 feet.

I heard someone cursing in the driveway of the 2nd neighbor down. A very drunk young man was on the phone with a buddy. After he hit our car he raced through the 2 front yards (between 2 trees) hit the car in the 2nd neighbors driveway knocking it into their garage and moving the cinderblock wall about 2 feet.

The young man (19 years old) saw me and begged me not to call the police! No, I said, we're calling the police.

The 2nd neighbor down we found out is a Chinese and owns a restaurant in the strip mall nearby. Most of his employees live there and many sleep in the LR on the floor. The Police said Todd's car deflected this young man enough so that he hit the neighbors car and not his LR. Several people would have been injured or killed. The Chinese man I later found out is a Christian and so I assume are his employees. God using God's people to protect his people.

Guess we're in the market for a new vehicle. And we just paid this one off 6 months ago!

Summer is here!

School is unofficially out... tomorrow is the picnic which is the last official day for Rebekah's first year of preschool. It was tough to get through at times. I mean, really, how do people do it everyday? It just about killed me to get her there 2 mornings a week! Thank goodness she goes in the PM next year!
